Time for Some Fun!
My recent posts have been a bit somber I must admit.
It’s time for a major-cheer-me-up post.
There’s only one person I know who can do that where ever she goes…
You got it in one. It’s Poppy. This girl has The Happy gene…
Especially now she’s learnt to wave. People respond. Where ever we go. They can’t resist this happy little soul waving..
Snot happens…that’s funny too!
Going into a long orange tunnel is nothing to be frightened about. It’s funny!
Having a hair-wash is always good for a laugh, especially when Mummy and Nanny get soaked too!
I just know there are some happy dreams going on in that precious little head.
What can I say, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect grandchild.
Now, how cheered up do you feel?
Five Disturbing Things
This blog was intended to record Five Good Things (and more) that I experienced in my daily life.
However, some experiences cannot always be described as ‘good’. Important, yes, and thought provoking, certainly.
My post today is about an unexpected visit to Poland. The opportunity was there, so I took it. Krakow was our destination. The purpose of the two day stay was to visit Aushwitz and Birkenau
This post shows five photographs I took. No words this time.
What a Difference From Last Christmas
This was our first Christmas with Poppy. What a difference a baby makes! She had no idea what it was all about. Except that there was a lot for her to do
Sparkling lights to figure out
Learning how to unwrap things
Giving everything a good shake. Needless to say, the paper and ribbon was the best
A lot of laughing
Watching people eat and eat and eat
Wearing her new reindeer bib
And just being sweet
Just wished to could get her paws on that Jimmy-Cat
Poppy’s Day Out
Poppy went to the circus. As long as there were no animals she was happy to go. So was I. I don’t want to see animals performing, but am pleased with what people can do:
Oh look at that! It’s so exciting I have to make a funny face!
How did he do that??
This is nail bitingly good!
The ring master had electricity in his hair, I think he saw me!
Sparkly, fluffy things
Then we all sang and Santa came!
And the pretty ladies took care of us
Then it was all over and time for bath and bed.
Baby Time
My daughter has a lovely group of NCT friends who had a little get together. The theme was Babies at Christmas, and I took the shots
My models didn’t quite get what they were there for
There was an escaped lamb that fell all over everybody
Group shots were beyond my skills. However, even single poses didn’t provoke a smile on Santa Claus
The angel was rather heavenly I felt
The little lamb eventually showed her face. I know that face…..it’s Poppy!
The king was not amused
At the end of the shoot it was all too exhausting for my little Lamb Poppy.
My Beautiful Granddaughter
This post is one of indulgence and love.
I admit to being completely in love with my granddaughter Poppy.
There is nothing not to love about her.
Always happy
Loves a good game
Interested in what ever’s going on
It might be a bird or a balloon she can see
Or it might be lunch (now she has one tooth)
And what I love especially about my Poppy is that she loves me too!!

Poppy’s Little Ceremony
Yesterday was the food display. Today we get to see the party itself. I seem to have got the wrong priorities. On the day, they all came together
The party dress was chosen by Poppy’s daddy. Pretty lovely I’d say
Of course the theme was girly pink with bunting
Daddy blew up all the balloons
And Poppy just laughed all day… until…
Daddy made a long long speech. Best to fall asleep. Which is what Poppy did………It was a very good speech, but not when you’re just four months old…..
All over. Just the washing-up to do. But not by us thank goodness! It was a good old bash we all thought!
Birthday Picnic
How lucky can you get! Another major birthday treat. A picnic at Wisley Gardens in the company of five of my favourite people, two of whom are tiny favourite people:
The smiley Megan
And a bit sleepy Poppy
Wisley put on a good show for us
The theme was orange and purple. No doubt especially for me, as these are some of my favourite colours
How could anyone resist these lilies?
Or these baby moorhens who didn’t want to be late for the party………
Just lovely!
Perfect July Sunday
The Royal Horticultural Society provided us with the lovely gardens of Borde Hill. A perfect place for a stroll with Poppy and her lovely mummy. There were few other people visiting. Everyone else was watching the men’s final at Wimbledon
Roses are the major feature of any English garden at this time of year. Borde Hill is laden with them
I particularly like these peachy coloured ones. Their scent is delicious
I haven’t seen a day lily this colour before. It clashed perfectly with the daisies behind
So peaceful it was I decided to lie down for a moment. Unfortunately I left my camera unattended…….
Wish I could say this was me. However she was a little my junior I fear…
No point in having a post about lovely flowers without this Poppy feature. Having her pre-outing bath….xxxxx
Here Come the Boys
The sun was out and the boys came out. Roller blades on.
These kids were flying
And looping the loop!
Shadow man
Watch and learn
Board Boy
Two Months Old Today
How can somebody be so lovely when they are just two months old?
And happy….All the time!
Looking good in anything……..
Especially good in little stripy hats
Just pure sweetness…
I blame the parents for this piece of perfection. What else can it be?
Varieties of Poppies
This is the time of year to see poppies:
Some feathery
Some red and gaudy
Some more subtle
Some deep in thought
Some feeling dreamy
And others just plain happy.
All lovely. I like every variety of Poppy going.
First Smile
Today I got my first smile from Poppy. What a sweetie!
She spends more of her day wide awake now, so I can see those big blue eyes
But then it all gets too much and she falls asleep on Mummy. That’s the best place to sleep!
Baby Details
I’ve been gazing at this baby for the last few days, and have been enchanted by all the details of her little body.
Good job I’m not becoming a doting grandmother isn’t it?
Mummy Love
This is my girl, who wanted a baby for the longest time.
Finally she was rewarded with a little bundle of sweetness.
Assisted by these two lovely midwives who scuttled in to the house, and set about the business of bringing my perfect granddaughter safely into the world. No fuss or bother. After which, we all had a cup of tea, and they went home.
How glad am I!
Daddy Love
My son-in-law had never held a baby before his own daughter. Take a look at this…….
Better give Mummy a look in here….
This is a good feeling!
The Best day
Today was the best day. My granddaughter Poppy Louise was born. At home. No fuss, just as birth is meant to be. I loved every minute.
My Grand Daughter’s Mummy and Daddy
These are the expectant parents of my forthcoming Grand Daughter. She’s due at the end of March. Right now she’s very happy just where she is. So are her parents by the look of them!
Happy New Year lovely people xxxxxx
My Girls
My two favourite girls. Which one is pregnant. Answers on a postcard.

Lovely, lovely girls. There will be a baby/kittens at the end of March!
Five Little Ones
The little ones in Peru are usually with their mothers while they work. Lunch is on the hoof, often some tasty rice dish.
Tiny ones are on their mother’s backs and involved with everything. That must be a good thing.
Happy to have her picture taken
And have a share of our cakes for lunch
These children are lovely. They play happily and think we are quite amusing. We are of course just that.
A Market in Cusco Peru
The markets in Peru are packed full of fresh produce. No fussing about shapes and sizes. Everything is fresh and organic.
This produce comes straight from the fields.
Black corn is used for a drink which is refreshing and non alcoholic.
Peru has hundreds of varieties of potatoes. These little golden ones looked delicious
Pumpkins go into their stews and curries and are sweet and tasty
Would have loved to have access to a kitchen out there so I could buy some of this produce and cooked up something delicious
This lady was peeling pots of potatoes. Would have enjoyed a chat with her about what she was planning to do with them……..
Five Lovely Peruvian Ladies
I have seen many good things in Peru this last two weeks. Here are some ladies who caught my eye. More to come:
Their hats vary according to the region
Long black plaits are the same all over the country
The bananas this lady sold me were sweet and delicious
